Primary Health Care Course

Pioneer Bible Translators offers a practical course for both medical and non‐medical missionaries from Pioneer Bible and other approved organizations. The course is taught by medical personnel with cross-cultural medical experience.

Course Objectives
  1. Students will learn to take care of health care needs for themselves, their family and their national neighbors while living in remote areas of the world
  2. Students will learn to identify symptoms and provide treatment using the Village Medical Manual

The course is designed to give the student an overview of medical illnesses and emergencies one might encounter living cross-culturally. Students will have case studies for homework that will help the student navigate from the presenting symptoms to the treatment plan using the Village Health Manual.

What is the difference between the long course and the short course?

The short course teaches the basics with shorter lectures and limited lab times. Learning how to provide treatment in emergency situations is very limited.

The long course includes lots of student participation and lab time. Students will learn how to provide care in emergency situations and learn how to suture simple lacerations.
